C H A N G E

Are pigs flying? Has hell slowly frozen over? Is Brooklyn blogging two weeks in a row? I know, I know, it's a shock. But, new year, new goals. I'm trying to fill out my imaginary "frequent blogger" card. Maybe once it's full I'll get a nice pair of socks or something. A girl can dream right?
Anywho. I'm reflecting on life as one tends to do on a day free from school and work, and it doesn't seem possible for it to only be the second weekend of this semester. My classes have just jumped right into things, which is both exciting and wonderful, but also really crazy and a tad stressful. The best part about diving right into coursework is knowing that this coursework matters. Up until this point, classes haven't really had any lasting meaning, but now that I have a definite course that I am following, these courses need to become my bread and butter; what I eat, sleep, breathe. And I'm trying. But it's hard, because life is hard. College is hard. If I didn't have to turn into a crazy multi-tasker and try and find the balance between school, work, church callings, social life, dating (hahaha who am I kidding though), I'd probably be a normal human being who got 8 hours of sleep a night and ate three square meals according to the food pyramid. But where's the fun in that?
This last week has been really fun. Really weird. But good. I've been able to spend time with my good friends and eat good food and dance to fun music and laugh and smile a lot. I did a lil' revamp on the blog, as you might be able to see. I got to sketch this week, which is something I haven't been able to do since school started (#newyearsresolutions). I hope that this next week finds me laughing and smiling and learning and just simply L I V I N G, 'cuz I really love doing that.

Here's some other things I'm loving:

*Sodalicious: My recommendations of the week are:
1-(Skinny) Happier Valley: This is a Mountain Dew base with pineapple and coconut flavor plus maraschino cherry. It's skinny because I get it with Diet Dew. Also, to make it extra dirty is only to make it taste somehow more delicious.
2-The Southern Gent: Dr. Pepper, peach, vanilla, extra dirty. This one is SO GOOD. I don't even really love Dr. Pepper anymore, but this one is a game changer.

*International Cinema: So Johnnie had to go see a film in Italian for her class this weekend so we went and saw a film called "Caesar Must Die." It was so interesting and aside from not being able to find a comfortable position for the entire movie, I was so entertained and caught up in the story. As far as international cinema goes, this one is a definite success.

*One Direction: Alright, so I love One Direction. They fulfill all the girly, boyband loving parts of my heart, and this week I have just been doing a rediscovery of how much I love them. Harry Styles + Brooklyn= True Love.

*Mindy Kaling: In a random bout of Target impulse shopping, I picked up "Is Everyone Hanging Out Without Me? (And Other Concerns)" . There are few things higher on my list of hopeful accomplishments than being able to say I have met Mindy Kaling. I just think she's insanely funny and cool and seems like she'd be a good best friend.

*Some pictures from this week!
Basketball game with my ladies :)

We were feeling like classy ladies on our way to the cinema Friday night

After the cinema, Johnnie and I hung out with one of our favorite people, Brogan (pictured here) and her lovely husband. Love them so hard.

This was my life Saturday morning at work. Livin the dream

The cutest of cutest little cupcakes from Saturday afternoon. Little food items make me happy in the same way that mini clothing items and shoes make me feel.

Classy dinner with a couple friends today. We feasted upon potatoes and kielbasa, green salad, and my cheddar buttermilk biscuits. We done good. :)

till next time, BK
